Perfect Size!

One of the difficult things in this country is buying small amounts of food, especially at restaurants and cafes. It might sound strange to you, but it is true. For instance, you hardly find short sized drinks at the Starbucks in this area. Moreover, if you go to a restaurant and order one dish, it would feed you for lunch and dinner. This is why I don't go to restaurants by myself--I don't want to eat too much and I don't want to carry my leftovers either. I wish I could buy half the food at half the price. If restaurants let me to do that, I could save a lot of money.

Healthy BBQ

On Sunday morning, we left Hugo's early because we wanted to go to a BBQ party which was organized by the martial art school where I take my Tai Chi class. It was a potluck kind of party so we picked up a sweet potato pie on the way home (it was very good).

The flier said that the BBQ would start from eleven o'clock, and they were going to perform Kung-Fu first. Because I really didn't want to miss their performance, we hurried on our way.

Guiltless Delicious Treat

Today was a perfect sunny day! The blue sky always makes me happy. On a day like today, I like being outside.

Feeling Homey

Unlike many Japanese couples, we had a Buddhist wedding even though my spouse was an American. There were reasons for that: I'm a Buddhist and my father is a Buddhist priest, which means I grew up in a temple. We had our wedding ceremony at our temple and it meant a lot for us.

Can't decide

I'm very indecisive, I know that it is not a good thing, but I have a hard time making decisions about food. Whenever I eat out, I take a long time to decide what I eat and I often change my mind a couple of times before I order. I don't like this habit, but I can't help myself.

Finally...

Afghan food is one of my favorite. It's not too spicy like Indian or Thai (I like both of them though), but not too plain like Japanese (again, I like Japanese food too).

The first time when I had Afghan food was about 6 years ago in Australia. At that time I worked at a primary school as a volunteer in Australia and stayed at several student's houses for a couple of months each. Two of those families were immigrants from Afghanistan, so while I stayed with them I ate Afghan food every day. Their food fascinated me and I gained a lot weight.
